Get on the bus!

Yes, I did it! I had a date with my oldest son to see the Doodlebops! A friend gave us free tickets, and I knew he'd love it, so we went two Sundays ago. I was completely shocked at the number of people there- considering the ticket prices started at $21 and you had to pay for any one a year or older! They were very high energy and fun and I couldn't tell if my oldest was enjoying himself or not. He sat in my lap the entire time just watching- no expression, just taking it in. I kept asking if he wanted to go home- he looked a little miserable. He'd just reply, "No, wanna see Doodlebops wight there." So, we stayed. Evidently he loved it. He's still been talking about it over a week later. One thing is for sure, I loved having the quality time with him- I don't get one-on-one time with him much. I know someday he'll jump up and down at those type of events, maybe even dance, but I was a very happy mom to get to cuddle with my 2 1/2 year old for an hour!

Thanks, Mima!

It was one of those days today- the kind of days when my youngest pulled out the DVDs four times within an hour, when neither of the boys would eat what I served them for lunch, when whining is abundant and you feel like everyone needs a nap just an hour after waking up... So, I decided we needed to have a focused activity. And thanks to my mom, we had some pipe cleaners and large wooden beads that she sent for Valentines. The boys thought it was great fun. The two year old had no problem choosing his beads and sliding them along his green and yellow pipe cleaners. My one year old, however, thought it was more fun to throw the beads on the floor. So, we worked out a deal- he handed the beads to me and I threaded them for him. All along, I assumed we were making necklaces, or maybe bracelets, but to my surprise, when my oldest was finished, he proudly announced, "Look, issa sssnake, Mom!" I'm sure their dad is proud that instead of necklaces, his boys made snakes today. Here's a pic of the boys and their "snakes" and mom and her necklace!

Flowers...

I know it's oh so sappy, but I love flowers. They can make a huge difference in my daily life. When fresh flowers are sitting on my dining room table, I suddenly have the feeling that everything in life is under control. I find myself oblivious to the toys scattered around the living room- maybe not oblivious to it, but I'm not irritated by their presence!
Yesterday my valentine surprised me. He told me that he needed to go into work early and set his alarm for 6am. Needless to say, that I never heard his alarm and was dead to the world until he brought the boys into our bedroom around 8:10. I thought to myself, "I guess he didn't make it in early," but never uttered a word. He kissed me goodbye and the boys and I watched a quick episode of Adventures of Odyssey there in our room. Then, when I went downstairs, there they were. Twelve perfectly gorgeous roses in my crystal vase! Plus, there were three cards with it- one or two cards did not provide sufficient space for my hubby to write all that he wanted. :) What a wonderful way to start my day! So, lovey, thanks for the little white lie about needing to leave for work early- when you were really scheming to make my world better. Each time I see those flowers, they reiterate that I am loved and cherished... a message I never get tired of hearing! Thanks, hon, you are a treasure!

It's me now...

Well, I have to admit that my good friend is responsible for this blog. She took the time to set everything up and personalize it. She even filled out my first post- thanks, girlie! I am going to give the blog a chance- who knows what I'll write about- my oldest sons fondness for taking his clothes and diaper off after we have put him in bed at night? My addiction to baking sweets "to help me get through the rough times" (as my husband says)? The GodStops I see in my life on a daily basis (from Beth Moore's Bible study "Believing God")? My strange affinity for proofreading everything I see? Our new adventure in house-hunting? Who knows? Just check back and we'll see what makes it on the screen! In the meantime, I'll be figuring out how to upload pics, and further personalize this space...

I have joined the crowd

Well, I have never considered myself a Follower (although I tend to be a people-pleaser), nor do I feel I have the extra time in my day to devote to a BLOG. However, I feel compelled to get with the program - as I truly enjoy reading what others are doing. I hope I can keep up!
