The Countdown...

In honor of being 2 weeks from our due date (and dilated to a 2), I thought I'd share some pregnancy photos with you... a quick glimpse of our journey.

I don't think I'll be posting any more pregnant belly photos- you get the idea- we're growing!

Now, here are the photos from our 20-week ultrasound at the beginning of September when we found out we were expecting a sweet baby GIRL...

This is where my sweet hubby cannot tell what the ultrasound photo is showing! I love the confused look!

Fortunately, the ultrasound tech included a note that showed a diagram of the little girl parts, so that we could figure it out!God is so good! We're so excited about this baby girl and cannot wait to meet her!

The boys were thrilled- and as Jonah said, "I was right, Mom, you were wrong. I said it is a girl!"

Surely in the next two weeks we'll be introducing the Little Miss to the world- and she'll have a name by then, too!

Sewing...

When I was younger my mom tried to teach me to sew. I wasn't too interested... I'd rather have her sew for me, which she did. She sewed pillows and curtains when we redecorated my room (or several of my dorm rooms in college), she sewed many dresses for me, including a prom dress my junior year, and once, she even tried her hand at making me a swimsuit. She's pretty talented, but I wasn't patient enough for it.

Well, when Jas and I got married, I was interested in getting curtains on our windows and making our house "homey," so I tried sewing (thankfully, my sweet friend, Tab, let me borrow her machine)- and I was fairly successful. I didn't follow patterns or anything, just made up the rules as I went.

It's been several years since I've made any curtains, and now, I'm suddenly more interested in sewing. I guess it's because baby girl is on her way and I want to have her nursery ready, and my mom won't be here for another couple of weeks! (You see, she made the curtains, crib skirt, etc. for the nursery when N was born.)

Lucky for me, my mom bought me a sewing machine and I have an incredibly talented friend, Sarah, who is a sewing queen. She's amazing. She has made a quilt for baby girl, and is in the process of finishing up the bumper pads. She came over a couple of days this week for some sewing time with me and it was so much fun! Of course, I still don't know what I'm doing, but I'm learning- and I take directions well. It was mostly her, but I did help with the crib skirt. Here she is after finishing the cover for our glider...

While Sarah worked on nursery bedding, I had another project... my sweet mother-in-law brought us several outfits for baby girl when she came in November. She also picked up these for a steal-of-a-deal, thinking we could use them for layering underneath outfits for the sweet baby. For one reason or another, I was inspired. I wanted to make some appliques to cover up the "born in 2005," so I began some internet research for my project. I found instructions, and some adorable patterns (from Martha Stewart's website) and set off to the fabric store.

Are they perfect? No! Are they cute? Yes! Don't look too closely, my zig-zagging is not straight, but they are so adorable homemade!

Do I lay awake thinking of my next sewing projects? Yes! I think I may be hooked!

Playing Catch-Up: Part 4- July-Sept 2009

In the middle of July, the boys took swimming lessons for 2 weeks- and I was amazed at their progress! They had a great time with their teacher, Ms. Jessica.

At the end of the month, we took an overnight trip up to McCall for a little family get-away. We had a great time swimming in the hotel pool, and then playing at the lake all day... The boys made a "raft" of this floating log- and then tried to keep their balance to ride it around the water.

In August, the boys and I headed South to see my family. We were actually there for 4 weeks- it was a fun time to see everyone- and we also were able to attend my great grandmother's 100th birthday party! Here are the boys with cousin Anthony and Uncle Brent....

While in Louisiana, we had a weekend trip to the lake with my family. The boys loved tubing with Uncle Mark- although our younger one always wanted to go faster- while the older always wanted to slow things down a bit!

While we were in North Louisiana, we were able to cruise around the lake with my Uncle Wiley and Aunt Amy on their party barge. Both boys even took turns "driving" the boat!

Once we were back home, N started preschool! He loves it- and he had no issues leaving Mommie- and the best part for him, is having a backpack! J, in the meantime, loves the one-on-one time with Mommie while big brother is away!

In September, we had the 20-week ultrasound for our new baby... and found out it's a girl! We are so excited and humbled that God has given us another baby girl...

Labor Day weekend we took a trip to Portland to see some good friends of ours. It was great! We picked blackberries...

and took a day trip over to the coast... (here are our friends, Brady, Kristen, Cadence, & Reagan)

And here are the guys with the twin girls... too cute!

...and visited a fish hatchery. It was so much fun to meet Brady & Kristen's twins and get caught up with them. We hadn't seen them since N was 3 months old!

J was able to celebrate his 4th birthday twice- once at Mima and Papa's house...

and once at home. That boy loves to decorate a cake! His first was Wow Wow Wubzy and the second was Spiderman. About a week after his real birthday he told me, "Mom, I need to go check the mail to see if someone sent me a card telling me my birthday is over." He'd love to have a birthday every week, if you'd let him!

Another highlight in September, J was finally old enough to be in the Cubbies class with our Awana program at church. He's wanted to be a Cubbie for the past 2 years- he's happy to have his vest!

N is in Cubbies again this year, too. They really going to class together... And, we celebrated hubby's birthday in September... it's a busy month around here! Although he is officially "over-the-hill" now, we kept it pretty low-key.

That's all for now... I guess I need to do another quarter update to get us truly up-to-date. I don't know if this baby girl will wait for that, or not! We're a little over 2 weeks away from our due date!

Playing Catch-Up: Part 3- Apr-June 2009

The first week of April, my sweet nephew, Anthony, was born! Aren't they a cute family?

Then, we celebrated Easter. Hubby and I had the opportunity to take part in a "cardboard testimony" at our church. The front of our cardboard read, "Lost our baby girl in January" and then the back, "Experiencing peace that passes all understanding." It's so true. We have truly experienced God's perfect peace this year- and we are so thankful for that.

I had to include this picture of my boys with their good friend, Ben- it's just too cute. These guys are so strong!

Mother's Day in May was a bittersweet day- it was also Ava's due date. I'm so thankful for my boys, but we were definitely missing our baby girl that day. I had several friends who checked in on me and made sure that I knew they remembered our girl, too.

while I flew to Texas to meet that new nephew. What a sweetie!

Then, at the end of the month, Mima came for a visit. It was so good to have her here.

June 3rd, our oldest turned 5! Yikes! Where does the time go? We celebrated a little early with Mima, then again on his real birthday. These kids are accustomed to having no less than two birthday celebrations a year- and of course, they love it!

Before Mima left, we were able to tell her our big news, we're having another baby! This time, Papa understood what the matching shirts meant when we e-mailed the photo!

At the end of June, we said "good-bye" to some of our dearest family friends. Oh how we miss the "T Family Christmas!"

As part of his birthday gift, N wanted a tennis racquet. He loves to play tennis! He loves to watch tennis on TV! I would have never guessed that, but we had a lot of fun playing at the courts as a family throughout the summer.

Playing Catch-Up: Part 2- Jan-Mar 2009

This first picture is extra special to me. The boys and I went to the park (back in Louisiana) with my Mom on January 12th and we had some fun times together. The next day we flew back to Boise, and then on the 14th is when we had our doctor's appointment where we found out that we had lost our sweet Ava. This is the last picture I have of all three of my kids with me... I know that you can't see my prego belly, but I know she's there.

We don't have as many photos as usual from the beginning of this year, but we tried to maintain "normal." God has been so faithful to carry us through our grief with great peace and comfort- we are so thankful.

Playing Catch-Up: Part 1- Oct-Dec 2008

There's lots to catch up on from the past year (sorry for my break from blogging), so here goes!

Both boys wanted to be spiderman for Halloween, here's Noah...

For Thanksgiving, Jason's mom and stepdad came for a visit. It was so nice to family in town for the occasion- and of course, the food was great. Janice helped out so much in the kitchen and Jason smoked a turkey for us- delicious!

It's a Christmas tradition to have the boys' picture taken with Santa. They were excited about seeing him...until it was their turn- and yes, they are both crying. Oh well, I've got the picture for the scrapbook! I've been told that someday I'll have to pay bills for therapy for them to recover from their Santa experience.We celebrated Christmas with my family in Louisiana- it was wonderful to be with everyone. Here's a family picture from Christmas Eve...Another Christmas tradition we have is giving the kids new Christmas PJs. And yet, another tradition that the kids were not excited about this year. Jonah just melted because he wanted to wear his superhero jammies instead. Maybe I'll learn and their "Christmas PJs" this year will be Spiderman themed- doubtful!While we had the entire family together, we attempted to get a family photo. My boys always make this so challenging, but we were so glad to get a decent photo with everyone in it!

In Between Times

This month is a special month for us- in a little bit of a weird way. We are right in the middle of two very different times in our life. A little over 6 months ago, we lost our baby girl. The grieving has been intense at times, but God has been faithful to bind up our broken hearts and bring healing. We have normal days now- our new normal. Ava Marie is never far from our thoughts. There are some days when the tears are just constantly close to the surface and surprise us at the times they choose to bubble over. We have grown closer as a couple, and as a family- I'm so thankful for that. I'm also thankful for the many friends who have loved on us through this time. There are so many that have allowed us the comfort to let the emotions come when they come- and that has been a life saver.

But this month also marks a new time for us. In about 6 months, we will be welcoming another baby into this world. Our due date is January 19th, just three days past the anniversary date of Ava's delivery. We are so excited to meet this little one- and so very grateful to God for this blessing. This pregnancy has certainly brought with it some new feelings- a little apprehension that we hadn't had before- so please be praying for us. There have also been some very familiar feelings, too: the excitement, the nausea, the exhaustion! Thankfully, we are over the first trimester and the nausea and exhaustion is behind us and the nesting has begun! Here's a peek at our new little one...
